Mark 5

And he came to the other side of the sea to the region of the Gerasenes. 2 And with him stepping out of the boat, immediately a man with an unclean spirit met him from the tombs, 3 who was having the dwelling among the tombs, and no one was able to bind him anymore with a chain 4 because he has been bound with many fetters and chains and he has torn away from him the chains and has broken the fetters, and no one was able to subdue him. 5 And through every night and day among the tombs and in the mountains he was crying and cutting himself with stones.

6 And seeing Jesus from afar, he ran and did obeisance to him. 7 And having cried with a great voice, he says, “What to me and you, Jesus, Son of the highest God? I adjure you by God lest you might torture me.” 8 For he was saying to him, “Come out from the man, unclean spirit.” 9 And he was asking him, “What is your name?” And he says to him, “My name is Legion, because we are many.” 10 And he was greatly urging him that he might not send them from the region. 11 There was there on the mountain a great herd of pigs feeding, 12 and they urged him, saying, “Send us to the pigs, in order that we might enter into them.” 13 And he permitted them, and having come out, the unclean spirits entered into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the precipice into the sea, as two thousand, and were drowning in the sea.

14 And those grazing them fled and brought news to the city and to the farms, and they came to see what it is that happened. 15 And they come to Jesus and they see the demonised (man) sitting, having been clothed, and being in right mind, the one having had the Legion, and they were afraid. 16 And those having seen described to them how it happened to the demonised (man) and concerning the pigs. 17 And they began to urge him to go away from their borders. 18 And with him getting into the boat, the demonised (man) was urging him that he may be with him. 19 And he did not permit him, but he says to him, “Go away to your house to your (people) and tell them as much as the Lord has done to you and showed mercy to you. 20 And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis as much as Jesus did to him, and all were marvelling.

21 And with Jesus having crossed over [in the boat] again to the other side, a great crowd gathered about him, and he was beside the sea. 22 Then one of the synagogue-rulers comes, with the name Jairus, and seeing him, falls at his feet 23 and urges him greatly, saying that “my daughter is close to the end, so that having come, you might place the hand on her that she might be saved and live.”

24 And he went away with him. And a great crowd was following him and pressed him. 25 And a woman being with a flow of blood twelve years 26 and having suffered much from many physicians and having spent all that she had and not having benefited but rather having come to the worse, 27 having heard concerning Jesus, having come in the crowd behind, touched his garment; 28 for she was saying that “if I might touch even his garments, I will be saved.” 29 And immediately the spring of her blood was dried up, and she knew in the body that she has been healed from the disease. 30 And immediately Jesus, having perceived in himself the power having gone out from him, having turned back in the crowd, was saying, “Who touched my garments?” 31 And his disciples were saying to him, “You see the crowd pressing you, and you say, “Who touched me?” 32 And he was looking around to see the one having done it. 33 The woman, having feared and trembling, having known what had happened to her, came and fell before him and said to him the whole truth. 34 And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go away in peace and be healthy from your disease.”

35 With him still speaking, (people) come from (the house of) the synagogue-ruler, saying that “your daughter died, why still trouble the teacher?” 36 Jesus, having overheard / disregarded the word, speaking, says to the synagogue-ruler, “Do not fear, only believe.” 37 And he did not permit anyone to follow with him except Peter and James and John the brother of James. 38 And they come to the house of the synagogue-ruler, and he sees a commotion and those weeping and wailing greatly. 39 And having entered, he says to them, “Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child did not die but sleeps.” 40 And they were laughing at him. And having thrown (them) all outside, he takes the father of the child and the mother and those with him and enters where the child was. 41 And having grasped the hand of the child, he says to her, “Talitha coum,” which is interpreted, “Girl, I say to you, arise.” 42 And immediately the girl arose and was walking around; for she was twelve years. And [immediately] they were amazed with great amazement. 43 And he ordered them greatly that no one might know this, and he said to give her to eat.
