Towards a retrospective Trinitarianism

To what extent does the New Testament identify Jesus with the God of Israel? My view is that as the Jewish Jesus-movement established itself in the Greek world, it was bound to—and right to—rationalise the relationship between Father, Son, and Spirit in Platonic terms. The Fathers had to construct a complete post-Jewish worldview if this invasive faith was to flourish at a “kingdom” level. But the New Testament itself tells a quite different story.
