How to tell the biblical story in a way that makes a difference

The death of Jesus

According to the standard theological paradigm Jesus’ unique death was an atonement for the sins of all people. That’s not how the New Testament narrative works. In narrative-historical perspective, I think, Jesus died for the sins of his people to save them from them from historical oblivion, but that act of redemption was found subsequently to have immense consequences for those outside the commonwealth of Israel.
