Review of The Coming of the Son of Man

Read time: 1 minute

Daniel Levy has written a very good, thorough, and largely sympathetic (quizzical in places rather than critical) review of The Coming of the Son of Man. He took the trouble to raise some questions with me in advance regarding the “rapture”, to which I responded in “Resurrection, rapture and relevance”.

He represents the argument of the book very well, though I might demur on a couple of points (without wishing to appear ungrateful!): I don’t think the difference between the resurrection of the martyrs at the parousia and the resurrection of all the dead before a final judgment is simply a distinction between a spiritual and a physical resurrection; and to speak of the future hope of the church in terms of waiting for “the coming of the Lord Jesus and the physical resurrection of our bodies” is an odd misreading of the book.
